Independent broker or direct insurer: why the role changes everything.

Published on 26 septembre 2025 · 5 min read

The direct insurer has only one offer to present: its own. If it suits you, all the better. Otherwise, it has no mandate to point you elsewhere.

The independent broker works the other way around. They consult several risk carriers for each file, read the general terms in detail, compare ceilings, exclusions, waiting periods and renewal conditions.

On international health contracts, where gaps between offers can exceed 30% at comparable cover, this comparison work is not optional: it is the very value of the advice.

Our remuneration is paid by the chosen insurer. Your advice is free. This model is shared by every broker on the market; what makes the difference is the rigour of the analysis and the quality of follow-up over time.
